This month’s meeting of the Genealogy Club takes place on Wednesday 15th November at 7pm in the Community Room in Portlaoise Library.
The Genealogy Club is a friendly group of people who share an interest in family research. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month to exchange information and learn from one another. New members benefit from the knowledge and assistance of the experienced members, who provide information sessions and practical instruction on doing family research. The meetings are free and open to the public and beginners are welcome every month.
This month’s information session is on using irishnewsarchive.com to access genealogical information. This website holds digital copies of Laois newspapers the Leinster Express and the Laois Nationalist (formerly the Nationalist and Leinster Times). Laois Libraries has a subscription to irishnewsarchive.com so access is free of charge on public PCs in all branches of Laois Libraries.
