The Old Fort Quarter Festival begins today, 22nd June 2023.
To give a background to the history of the Old Fort Quarter and discuss the conservation process, Conservation Architect Richard McLoughlin will host a presentation ‘The History and Architecture of Fort Protector,’ in partnership with Laois Heritage Society, tonight (22nd June) at 7pm in St. Peter and Paul’s Parish Centre in Portlaoise.
Richard McLoughlin of Lotts Architecture and Urbanism led a team that prepared a conservation plan for the Old Fort. The plan, commissioned by Laois Heritage Society and supported by the Heritage Council and Laois County Council was published in 2022. You can learn more on the background to this project and read the conservation plan in full HERE.
Tonight’s talk is free to Laois Heritage Society members and 5 euro to non members. All are welcome.
