Portlaoise Library
Saturday 6th April 2024, 11am
The next Local Studies coffee morning will take place on Saturday, 6th April at 11am in the Community Room in Portlaoise Library. The last coffee morning in February was enjoyed by all. Attendees were informed and entertained by John Dunne’s talk on the history of Portlaoise. The next gathering will be treated to a talk by Frank Parker, local author. People are also invited to bring along small historical objects to share and discuss.
Laois Local Studies, now housed in a spacious and dedicated room in the new Portlaoise Library, has enjoyed a big increase in visitor numbers since opening in July 2023. To encourage and foster this enthusiasm for the history and heritage of Laois, Portlaoise Library regularly hosts Local Studies coffee mornings.
If you have an interest in Laois history, or would like to learn more about the county, then come along and meet like-minded adults of all ages to listen and share local stories of the past, ancient and recent. Whether you are descended from the Seven Septs of Laois or recently moved into the area from another county or country come along and chat to other Laois residents in a relaxed and informal setting.
