Remembering Laois Women of the Revolutionary Era

Laois Local Studies > Events > Remembering Laois Women of the Revolutionary Era

An exhibition on Cumann na mBan is currently running in Stradbally Library and Art House. The exhibition is part of a long-term and ongoing engagement by Laois Local Studies with projects to remember and record the stories of Laois women in the revolutionary period.

Curated by Bernadette Dunne, with the support of Laois Libraries, the Cumann na mBan exhibition is designed to highlight the experience of Laois women involved in the revolutionary struggle and encourage the community to participate in recording their stories.

In conjunction with the exhibition Stradbally Library is hosting a relaxed and informal gathering to hear and share information on the local women, whose stories are in danger of being forgotten forever. Join us next Wednesday, 23 November at 1.30 pm for tea and a chat to remember and celebrate the remarkable mothers, grandmothers, aunts, neighbours and friends who helped create an independent Ireland.

The Cumann na mBan Exhibition and related events are part of Laois Libraries’ Decade of Centenaries programme for 2022. The exhibition is running in Stradbally until the end of November. All are welcome.
